HYDROXYCITRONELLAL ist ein 7-Hydroxy-3,7-dimethylcitronellal, eine viskose Flüssigkeit mit einem anhaltenden angenehmen blumigen Geruch und Noten von Maiglöckchen, Maiglöckchen. Das Erscheinen von Hydroxycitronellal im Jahr 1908 wurde als großer Erfolg der Duftstoffchemie angesehen. Gleichzeitig wurde ein Verfahren zur Synthese dieses Produkts aus Citronellal entwickelt. Es wird häufig in Parfümkompositionen und Duftstoffen verwendet. P. ist ein Stoff, der allergische Reaktionen hervorrufen kann.
