Beschreibung

PROLINE ist eine heterozyklische Aminosäure, die in der Natur in zwei optisch isomeren Formen - L-Prolin und O-Prolin - sowie in Form von Racematen vorkommt. Farblos, leicht löslich in Wasser, Kristalle, gut löslich in Ethanol, weniger löslich in Aceton und Benzol, unlöslich in Ether. In Form von L-Prolin ist es Bestandteil der Proteine aller Organismen, besonders hoch ist sein Gehalt im Kollagen. Die sich abwechselnden Reste von P. und Hydroxyprolin sorgen weitgehend für die Stabilität der dreifachen Helixstruktur und die Festigkeit des Kollagenmoleküls. In kosmetischen Produkten fördert es die Kollagensynthese und hat eine entzündungshemmende Wirkung.
